Sorrento Restaurant
Italian-food-lovin' mammas will love Sorrento, an authentic Neapolitan restaurant at Yonge and Lawrence. The lunch menu boasts an array of appetizers, mains, pizzas and sumptuous desserts. A good uptown choice if your mom won't travel south o' Bloor.
Cafe Victoria in Le Meridien King Edward
The brunch at the King Edward is close to perfection. Eggs Benny, hot dishes and a mountain of cheeses, waffles, crepes make it so worthwhile. And, the opulent hotel's atmosphere ain't too shabby either. Cap off brunch with one (or five) desserts including the creme brulee and rice pudding. Mom will feel like royalty.
Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill
The Bayview Village cafe does a great brunch. It hums with Bayview-area locals, frequent mall rats and moms with gold cards. Part of the Oliver & Bonacini family, the popular Willowdale restaurant is meticulously decorated and it’s entertaining to watch the chefs work in the open kitchen. Wear your Sunday best -- and don’t forget to take mom on a little shopping spree after your meal.
Peartree Restaurant
A pleasant little space nestled in among local clothing shops and other area restaurants on Parliament Street. Book a table outside if it’s a nice day. The normally packed patio is decorated with potted plants and a colourful sunflower mural painted on the fence. Falling blossoms and an old shady tree provide the perfect springtime atmosphere. Mom will be pleased with the courteous service.
Bonjour Brioche
Young dads may want to take hipster moms and babies here on Mother’s Day. Yummy mummies often make this busy Queen East cafe their home away from home during the week, chatting over coffee and croissants with toddlers in SUV strollers. It’s cheaper than whisking her and the kids away to Paris, after all.
Casa Loma’s Royal Brunch
The city’s castle hosts a special brunch for the lovely ladies and their little (or big) kids. Brunch is held in the library, making mum feel like the queen she is. After brunch, guests can wile away the day in the estate gardens or on a self-guided tour.
The Old Mill Inn
One of the most picturesque spots in the city, the Old Mill is charming and quaint. A gourmet buffet is served on Mother’s Day so she can choose what she likes. It’s a perfect way to impress the most important lady in your life. Afterwards, take a walk in the gardens and catch up on the time you took her car for a joy ride without permission. Or not.
